Bad floral product dilemma solved by local shops

When I first became a weekly columnist, an editor told me that if I didn’t get both love and hate mail from readers, I wasn’t doing my job. Well, judging from my inbox, I’ve been overachieving the last two weeks. Readers have buried me with responses to my columns about the floral industry. I have heard from the vilified (certain florists) and the vindicated (burned consumers).

While I never want to hurt small-business owners, I am first and foremost pro-consumer. I know that many flower shops do a wonderful job, offer exquisite arrangements, and are a delight to work with.

Online store offers limited-edition merchandise

June 10 (Reuters) – Netflix Inc will launch an online store to sell limited-edition apparel, lifestyle merchandise and collectibles based on “Stranger Things,” “Lupin” and other popular shows, the streaming giant said on Thursday.

Netflix.shop will be available in the United States starting on Thursday and expand to other countries in the coming months, Netflix said in a blog post.

Shopify (SHOP) Launches Shop Pay Installments in the U.S.

Shopify SHOP launched Shop Pay Installments product in the United States on Jun 10. The company’s buy now pay later solution is supported by Affirm and is available to U.S. merchants that have enabled Shopify Payments and Shop Pay.

Shop Pay Installments has been known to boost merchant sales as it helps them provide customers more flexibility (four equal installments, interest-free and with no additional fees) at the time of purchase. In fact, per Shopify, one out of four merchants using the solution during early access witnessed 50% higher average order value compared with other payment methods.

New Braunfels shop Fickle Pickles continues to build on its global reputation

Billie Shaw opened the first Fickle Pickles shop in Boerne in 1981. Officially called Carousel Antiques & Fickle Pickles, the Boerne location remains the flagship operation, but the brand has expanded considerably in the last three decades.

In 2006, Shaw’s daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jake Obriotti, took over operations.

The Obriottis still own the business, which now includes shops in Gruene and New Braunfels.

“It started with only one recipe,” said Jenny Reacer, manager for the New Braunfels and Gruene locations.
