North Flint Food Market to host small business pop-ups this summer

FLINT, MI — A new co-op grocery soon to begin construction on Flint’s north end will host a series of vendor events throughout the summer to support small businesses.

The first small business pop-up event takes place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 13 on the lawn of Eagle’s Nest Academy, 5101 Cloverlawn Drive, in Flint and will feature an array of vendors from north Flint and beyond.

As children return to classrooms, stores expect strong sales | Business

NEW YORK — As more children go back to the physical classroom and families look to restart their lives, back-to-school spending this year could top pre-pandemic levels, according to one key spending measure.

Mastercard SpendingPulse, which tracks spending across all payment forms, including cash, forecasts that spending will be up 5.5% between July 15 and Sept. 6. That’s compared with the year-ago period when sales were up a modest 1.2% as the pandemic wreaked havoc on schools’ reopening plans and back-to-school shopping.

11 small business products to shop on Amazon for Prime Day credit

Right now, Amazon will pay you to spend money on the small businesses on its site. The promotion is live from now until June 20, right before Prime Day starts — June will be the earliest timing of the sales event, which Amazon created in 2015. The retailer is offering a $10 credit to use during Prime Day after you spend $10 on select small business products as part of its Support Small promotion — you can only get the $10 once. Fort Lauderdale shopping center shut down after ceiling collapse

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Fort Lauderdale shopping center was closed for further inspection Thursday after a partial ceiling collapse.

Around 10 a.m., heavy stucco came down at the front entrance of the Bealls Outlet store in the Southland Shopping Center on State Road 84, about a mile east of I-95.

Shoppers were inside at the time and were eventually escorted out of the back of the building.

No injuries were reported.

“I heard the big boom and the crash and they said no one can exit through the door here,” said Ted Inserra, who watched the whole thing happen.
