Westland Sears, the last in Michigan, closing its doors

Sears, the behemoth that was once the largest retailer in the United States, is set to close its final Michigan department store in the coming months.

Signs posted at the Sears store at the Westland Shopping Center indicates the store at the mall at Wayne and Warren roads is closing its doors. Signage indicates merchandise is marked down 15% to 50% off throughout the store. 

Plenty of items remain for sale as of Tuesday afternoon: clothing was abundant on the first floor, and the second floor had many appliances and more.

Shopify Stock Slips As ‘High Profile’ Product Announcement Missing At Unite Conference

Shopify‘s (SHOP) Unite conference apparently let investors down. Shopify stock fell on Tuesday as the biggest news coming out of the Unite conference was a reduction in app store fees for developers on their first $1 million in revenue.


“While the event appears to have disappointed the market, given the lack of new high-profile product announcements, we believe Shopify creating a robust developer ecosystem is the company’s most important strategic priority,” RBC Capital analyst Paul Treiber said in a report.

Shopify stock slipped 1.5% to close at 1,460.98 on the stock market today.
